Square Dancing Time!!:
YEE HAW!!

By:Tammy K

It's that time of year again! The time of ever-changing leaves, pumpkin pie, and the PERC's annual square dance. For those of you who have attended in the past, you are well aware of the fun to be had at this great event. However, if you are someone who has yet to have the square dance experience, I know what you are thinking. Square dancing?! You're kidding, right? We are dead serious. Do your best to fight off visions of plaid and hay bales, let go of any and all connotations involving a barnyard, and break out your dancing shoes! This event is unlike anything that you might expect, and an ideal way to spend a night. No previous square dancing experience is necessary, and dancers of all skill levels (or lack thereof) are welcomed. There will also be baked goods and refreshments available, a raffle, and a pinata surprise.

The square dance is currently scheduled for Saturday November 11th. In light of the upcoming dance, we will not only need you to attend, but we'll need some volunteers to help prepare for this event. We are planning a community kitchen baking party the night before the dance. Last year, we baked loads of delicious pies, cookies, squares, and crisps…which left our (and unsuspecting passerby) mouths watering. Also, we'll need volunteers on the day of the dance to help with set up and cleaning up. Lastly, but the most crucial job of all, we will need all of the PERC volunteers to sell tickets for this event. Call up your friends, call up your family, and even call up your estranged acquaintances and bring them out to the Square Dance!

The importance of a good dance should never be underestimated. It was, after all, Emma Goldman who stated, "If I can't dance- I don't want to be part of your revolution." See you at the Square Dance!
