Get cleaning this spring!

Catherine Mageau-Walker, Program Coordinator, Sustain Lowertown

Sustain Your Community Logo

Every spring in Lowertown, a community organization takes the lead in bringing together residents to take part in the Tim Horton’s Cleaning the Capital, a citywide cleanup campaign that occurs in the spring and fall of every year, whereby residents come together and combine efforts to make the city clean and green.

This year the community organization in Lowertown taking the lead is SustainLowertown, a partner community in EnviroCentre’s Sustain Your Community project, which aims to empower residents to design and implement their own sustainability initiatives that result in long-lasting benefits for themselves and their neighbours around issues related to energy and water conservation, local food and transportation.

Aside from coming together to clean up the neighbourhood and care for the environment, the SustainLowertown Action Committee is currently planning the event to make it a fun one!  In addition to the usual community BBQ and nutritious and delicious food, there will also be fun activities around recycling and composting. So mark your calendar for the last weekend in April!

If you are a Lowertown resident and would like to get involved in the Cleaning the Capital event, or would like to get involved in the SustainLowertown project to impove and better meet the needs of our community around food, transportation, energy and water, please
