Board of Directors

Charlie Scromeda: Board Chair

Charlie has been involved in the environmental not-for-profit world since 2015, starting with their first summer job in university, at Greening Sacred Spaces. Since then, they've been involved with several ENGOs in the Ottawa area, including Maison Tucker House, Sustainable Eastern Ontario, and Eco-Internships. Currently, they attend St Paul University. In their free time, Charlie can be found crocheting, cycling, writing poetry, taking nature photography, and volunteering at their church.

Owen Wady: Vice-Chair

Stefan Kleitsch: Treasurer

Alexandra Keenan: Secretary

Alex Keenan (J.D., LL.L) is a public speaking and communications consultant who has served on boards and committees for several non-profits, including grassroots, provincial and national organizations. She is passionate about sustainable communities, protection of wild spaces, and building a strong, well-resourced non-profit sector.

In her previous career, Alex worked as legal counsel for First Nations in Ontario and Quebec. She then went on to start her business, Stage Light Communications, which provides communications strategy, training and facilitation for organizations and professionals. Alex grounds her work in the principles of creativity, empathy, storytelling and community-building. She combines the art of persuasion, honed through her years in the practice of law, with techniques of performance and play that she has learned as an improv performer and teacher.

Alex lives in Ottawa with her spouse, lots of houseplants, and a sourdough starter named Stacey. She enjoys hiking, camping, sailing and cycling, and harbours the impractical dream of one day owning an alpaca farm.

Meranda Nolan: Board Member

Meranda has been a member of the PERC Board of Directors since 2016. She works as an Information Management Analyst for Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada and has experience working with non-profit and charity libraries. Meranda resides on a farm in Vankleek Hill, Ontario, where she finds joy in caring for her goats, chickens, cats, and garden. She is dedicated to advocating for human rights and promoting sustainable living. Drawing on her experience and passion, she is eager to make a meaningful contribution to the future of PERC.
